Wheels of fire 4

The previous weekend saw the wheels of fire 4 jam at Penzance bowl. This being my local i was well excited to be there with everyone.Such a chilled jam and atmosphere with a load of my mates. The BMX jam was held in two groups with a final.I smashed the SLAYER on my ipod and was well psyched.I pulled some things i was stoked on and tried a whip to late bars which went better than i had expected so ill be getting on them more soon.Everyone rode well and Kane and Danny smashed their bikes up good and proper.Never seen wheels get that mashed! Was a really good day though apart from me snapping 2 chains!ah well.heres some pics courtest of Will Harman.

Boardmasters 2011 (kinda)

Tom Justice aint gonna turn it down!

Stoked on his run!

The ramp felt sooo good!

pics credit: Rampart Design

video from ross penny: http://vimeo.com/27761695

So last week was boardmasters 2011 and to be honest i wasnt there that much to do a good massive write up so hopefully Tom does something similar.I was at hospital most of the week as my girl had quite a bad birth and her blood levels/pressures were sky high or too low.
I made the most of the couple of days i was there and Friday was Bangers for booze.I won a couple of beers for a nac flair and a bars to luc-e 270 out.Funny thing was you werent allowed to drink the beers as Newquay dont allow you to drink in the streets.fair enough i guess.haha.Everyone rode well but wasnt much of a comp/jam.More of a good time riding with mates. So Saturday came around and i wasnt sure whether i was going to the hospital or going to ride.I ended up at the hospital and making sure my girl and boy were ok.She was in there still for a good few hours so i went to ride quals and then go back.Qualifiers went well. There were loads of riders all killing it and the ramp felt really nice to do big things and just generally ride.unfortunately it wasnt enough for me to qualify but i did a few things ive been wanting to do for a while.Got my can flairs back so i was stoked on tht. Also stoked on my boys from cornwall riding well, mainly Kane Hanlan for doing a 540 no hander out of the blue.Tom qualified so that was awesome although i wouldnt be going back to see him ride in finals on the sunday because my girl and boy were coming home then so i was back at the hospital.
So boardmasters 2011 for me was a bit of a strange one this year but what happened outside of boardmasters this year was even better. My highlight had to be everyone knowing i had just got an awesome little boy in my life.Nice one to Tom for doing well and hope he has a write up because im sure he has more to say than i have about it.haha.Next event is Wheels of fire 4 at Penzance and im sure itll be a treat!

LEMONFEST!!!

Hi guys,

Me and my girl visited "Downtown NA" AKA Newton-Abbot for Lemonfest last weekend and had a lush time meeting the crew! From where I live in *K-town* AKA Kettering to the Odessa neck of the woods was a pesky five and a half hour drive, but let me tell you now it was worth it!! When we got there I dropped all our stuff off at the gate with Jema while I parked the car and when I got back we went to get in only to be told that we weren't allowed to bring in our enormous cool box of joy and sausage rolls or our MASSIVE amount of STRONGBOW!!! So it was another trek back to the car with a heavy cool box and a hefty bag for me :(

When we finally got into the festival we met Brian (one of the directors of Odessa). He is a super cool guy and instantly made us feel at home. It was like we had known him forever when infact it was the first time we'd met!! Also met the lovely Karen, another member of the Odessa squad and her and Jem had a good girly giggle. I was also excited to meet Dom as we have been emailing for a year now but have never met and now we have I feel like even more of a team member. He is a great guy and treated us well.

Had good old British weather all day long - hot then cold, sunshine then rain. Also saw a lush double rainbow and that's gotta be lucky!! Spent lots of time waiting in the ridiculous line for the beer tent who must have made a killing!! We sipped cider and black with the Odessa crew and had some super amazing pizza for dinner!!

Soon enough the evening rolled around and me and my lady had a bit of a dance in the moonlight to the headline act which was.................wait for it............. TOPLOADER!! How romatic haha!! Jema was a FOOL and lost her camera, but luckily later on found it by kicking it across the grass and was like "look I found my camera WOOOO!!!" So there was the usual festival antics but a very happy ending so all is well :)

The sleep in our brand spanking new pop up tent was a nightmare. We both woke up feeling about 70 years old and aching all over. Definitely pitched it in the wrong place too. There was a girl next door who seemed to think she was the new Britney and would not stop singing!! Oh and the portaloos were rank!! I will never understand how people manage to poo all over the seat. I must be missing a trick!

Overall had a lush weekend with my girl meeting the Odessa family :) I was gutted not to be riding because of my shoulder but was super happy to be there supporting the team so thanks for inviting us down guys!! Can't wait to do it all over again sometime soon I hope :)

Dave Pepperells Nass...

I caught up with Dave Pepperell who has let us know exactly how Nass went...

So we got there on the Thurs and hardly anyone was there... Well no public at least. Was good though as we got to ride the park with no pressure and just generally suss out the whole NASS 2011 site. The park had such a fun little section in the corner with a bank up into a quater pipe and back down the bank aswell as the big quater next to the elvis ramp it all felt so much fun to ride and had good sessions riding them in practice.

A few of us went to the mini ramp that motion and urban kreation had set up and it was the most amazing mini ramp ever i thought!  It was big enough to throw big bangers but small enough for tech fun!  We rode the mini from about 9 till 2 and some games of BIKE and such a laugh!

Friday came around as quick as ever although I slept crap on thurs night!  Me,Harry and Oliie went down and chilled out riding around and watching the public come in then we rode the mini ramp again and practice in the park which was fun and pretty damn busy in there.  Saw some absolute animals in there killing it!  We all got on the alcoholic beverages in the evening and we were pretty much all smashed!  Well,  I cant remember a lot about Friday night but I do remember passing out at the tent and waking up being sick and then passing out again! haha!  definately signs of a great night.  Although there was a mini ramp comp on the fri night that i wouldve loved to had rode but only a handful of people knew it was going on!  gutted on that.

Saturday morn I felt like I wanted to die!  Never been that hungover and exhausted and I knew I had to ride in a few hours!  Was not stoked on that as I could barely bunnyhop.  I tried my best to pull myself together for my runs and did a couple of things I was happy with but pretty much after my first trick I felt like death again, pulled a big nac flair and a couple of good combos I was happy with but gutted I tried a flip fufanu on something that was a little to small though.  Ah well...  So yeah after riding we all chilled and it came to the point where the drink was flowing again.I however was soo tired and moody I just had to go to sleep.

Sunday came around and i just wanted my bed and not a sleeping bag anymore!  I had two cooked breakfasts from the athlete food tent and had a flair for breakfast aswell and camp kernow camp sites ghetto quarter.  Mad chills were had on Sunday and we watched dirt which i saw Digger (Martyn Wetherelt)  do such a good run through the set!  was so stoked for him on his run!!  nice one mate!  Then it was time for the Pro park finals and oh my god!  everyone killed it!  was soo stoked to see my boyees killing it! Justice rode awesome and sent the boxes home!  Scott Hamlin almost killed himself doing a flair over the gap, Harry Main sent a massive drop in flair drop and tried a disaster to frontflip in, Kevin Peraza is amazing and did the best stylish tricks ive ever seen and so did Webbie.

Best thing I saw though was Todd Meyn doing a no handed 1080! I almost exploded in my pants!pahaha!

So that was Nass, well it was almost NASS obviously there was a lot of chillls, mad times, awesome riding, partying, crazyness and a hell of a lot of fun that I havent yet mentioned so for this I wanna thank all my friends who were there for making it such a good time and all the new people I met for just being sound and genuine!

Hope to see you and everyone else next year!

shoulder surgery

Hey guys, got out of hospital yesterday after having my shoulder sorted, they managed to get me sorted through key hole and they also gave me an epidural (what women have when they give birth) in my neck so i still cant feel much which is good, even tho i have no huge scars getting stabbed in the neck with a huge needle is pretty rock 'n' roll, so now i just have a waiting game on my hands.i have some pics to share.

The first one is me on enought pain killers to take down an elephant.

Then second one is the size of the bits of bone that came out and that were causing the pain, keep in mind there were 15 or more of these just in my shoulder.

ill keep you guys updated.

Hittin south with Dave Pepperell!!

Hittin south with dave pepperell!

Where to start! I got down to Newquay on Saturday, and the weather was a bit windy but nothing too serious! Anyhow i would rather be here with this chilled attitude than at home with the usual stuff! So I had been down for about 3 hours then I texted day to see what was going on and he suggested a ride! Oh yes sounds good to me! So I got myself sorted and ventured to wooden waves! Safe to say dave was killing it! As always, and we all know a shredded just provokes a big session! So things kicked off, heavy games of BIKE and all that jazz! Safe to say one of the best sessions in a loooooong time, all thanks to Dave!
Then after a few days of sight seeing and shopping Thursday rolled around and that was the planned day of riding. But I had to go and fall off and show my ribs a good time by giving the a taste of pedal! not fun:( but the chilled attitude of dave the session still managed to carry on and the really fun of just footing around on your bike was upon us, BONUS!!!
Dave is well and truly the soundest guy in Bmx and quite possible on this planet! Cheers for an awesome week bro! True friend. X

Riding with Adam

So Adam camn down for the week this week and weve rode a couple of times whilst hes been down checking out lovely cornwall with his chick.Rode Newquay last Friday and had such a sick session! One of the best ive had there in a while.Had a few games of bike which were fun.No one got splinters in them as wooden waves can usually have this effect.haha.We all know who won all of the games of BIKE dont we Adam? ;) haha.
Today we rode Penzance for a few hours.Went to the prom mini ramp at first which is a treat!that ramp is soo nice!Adam slipped the pedal mid air on a clicked lookback and ate shit landing on his ribs on his pedal!looked nasty!still rode though and put on a little show for the pikies who are down for the fair at the moment. We went up to the bowl afterwards and had a chilled as fucked game of BIKE and flowed around for a bit in the sun.
Got some damn good stunts in over these couple of sessions and is such a pleasure to ride with someone with such an awesome attitude towards riding. There should be more riders like Adam.Always a pleasure and good luck with your surgery mate!x

Kompany Malakhi Project

This years Britains got Talent left us speechless after Judges decided not to let us into Finals. Here bit information about Rotation project that i am involved with this year.Rotations began as project 360° in 2008 and currently exists as a duet between a BMX flatlander and B-Boy (breakdancer).
Kompany Malakhi continue to create unique and cutting edge work with this gritty yet graceful exploration of cause and effect. Combining the extreme sport of BMX Flatland with Breakin’ (breakdancing), Parkour and Contemporary Dance, Rotations twists and turns in an intricate and elegant game of rumours and whispers. Available in either short duet or longer quartet format, it is an innovative and compelling celebration of art and sport working towards the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

BMX was proven to be an extremely popular sport at the Beijing Olympics and Rotations can build on that success. Parkour/Free Running has captured the imagination of young people, media and film companies across the globe.Rotations will be touring the UK and internationally from Summer 2010 leading up to the Cultural Olympiad 2012.

Weekend in Dorset

Yooo,Went away to Dorset this weekend for the Dorchester BMX and skate jam and it was sick!!So many mad things went on and everyone had a good time although the weather sucked at times and the jam itself was cancelled. The weekend was full of lots of mad things but Alf stuart from home and away clearly influenced half of it.If you have no idea what im talking about youtube it.The rape dungeon is a treat!anyways heres a dose of what happened:
Thurday:
A few of us left on Thursday morning and proceeded out of Cornwall to one of my favourite areas in the UK.The forecast for the weekend looked gash and the journey prooved that until we hit Dorset and the sun was out,it was dry and for some reason Harry Hoare had an erection over either the weather or because he was sat in the car with 3 other guys.haha.Gary Pepperell got an awesome food check done on the journey aswell. If you dont already know my brother, hes a unit and eats soo much!check the food check edit soon.First skatepark we went to was Bridport outdoor. The place is really fun for a small park, its got a good mini section with a wallride, volcano, voltraino and a small elvis ramp at the end.Ben Hanlan danced all over the volcano with his mad tech skills,Harry snapped his chain on a 3 whip on the voltraino but still carried on riding and was doing truckdrivers over it with ease!yeah boyee!I had a fairly decent ride and did a few things i havent done before which i was stoked on.Next stop was Dorchester. We rode there last year for the jam and it was an absolute treat despite being packed so to go back this year and have more of the park to ourselves was great. The park started getting busy with those god damn scooter kids at about 4 so we headed off to the campsite to get set up.We got setup as soon as possible so we could get off down to the front skatepark down at Weymouth.Which was closed but the fence was easy to climb over!haha. The front was good although half of it is falling to bits but theyre doing their upmost to keep it rideable for the locals. What was rideable was fun tho!I got a gap to wallride to bars off so i was stoked!Harry whipped the box first go clean as you like! And then we went down to the arcade to get one of those van gogh photo things they do in every arcade and play on the dance machine!pretty sure we have the best score on that beast! While im on the subject of arcades im gonna give a shout out to Gary Pepperell for loosing 50quid on the fruit machines over the weekend!Mugged right off!ha.Then we needed some well needed sleep, which in a citreon xsara picasso in the back is like being in a bed!Is there anything that car cant do!

Harry Hoare sharpie chest tattoo.

View from campsite

Friday:
We woke up on friday to the other boys arriving.Lee Martin,Martyn (digger) Wetherelt,Tim Rudd and Matt Dalley. They sent their tents up quickly and we went Dorchester again.Sun was shining, riding was good and everyone had a good time and rode well.I snapped my chain though and wasnt too happy but my bike mechanic Harry Hoare fixed it sharply! The weather was so good on friday so we decided to make use of the facilities on the campsite and get a swim in the outdoor heated pool.we had it all to ourselves and it was a good job to!Gary had no swimwear but Harry had 2 pairs of speedos and Gary looked an absolute mess in them!Ben didnt get in the pool for some reason so acted as our lifeguard. We had BBQs after a good swim session and mine and Garys was crap!Didnt even cook so we managed to cook them on the others just before the heavens opened and we could see lightning on the horizon so all got down to the arcade in Weymouth again for more games and more money to waste for Gary and Ben.

Snapped chain :(

Loving life!

Yooooo!

Saturday:
The day of the jam and we wake up to more rain and horrible weather so by 9 o clock the jam was cancelled and as soon as the cancelled message turned up on facebook the sun came out and turned out to be a lush day!No one wanted to ride Dorchester other than me and Harry so they went to Bridport and we stayed at Dorch for a fun session with Ollie Palmer.Kids got mad skills on a bike and goes soo high he almost icepicked a cloud.Session was over for me earlier than i wouldve liked when my brake slipped off of a luc-e 270 fufanu out and i dropped to my ass and had a dead ass and leg for the rest of the day!Needless to say i needed some alcohol to take the pain away and on Saturday night i had enough to do just this.I got kicked out of wetherspoons though as my bro uses my ID and i had none despite having a full sleeve and loads of other tattoos which i quite clearly got done at a good place where u have to be 18!Anyways I dont normally drink so i get drunk so easily and the 6shots for a fiver worked a treat on me.We met this random dude called chris at the skittle alley who served us and told us to meet him at a place called Fins after he finished work and he will show us sum good places.Fins was made out to be the greatest pub in the world, aparently it had live rock music, mosh pits and boobs.I saw none of this and saw about a hundred older dudes in leather jackets listening to iron maiden and AC DC.We felt so out of place until Chris arrived and we gave him a second chance. This time being a place called Rumshack. It was some ghetto ass night club with old men and fat old women in.Oh wait and when we got in there we went toilets only to see a guy being sick in the sink with another guy pissing on his face.what a mate!Harry had a photo taken with some girl and i hit him up with the great chat up line, this being:your gonna look at the photo in the morning and wish u had f***ed me!haha. So we get a drink,go to the dancefloor and i literally just stood there in disbelief and pissed myself laughing at how this Chris dude thought this was a good place. He told us to give it half hour so we did and my god we saw some sights! For example, dutty chav girl gettin a bit 2 wild on the dancefloor revealing everything and what seemed to be a pirate having a dance off with digger!Talking about Digger,we left the club to get some food and start randomly talking to a dude and his girlfriend from London. This end (who were calling Fred Perry) lifted his girl up in the air only to expose his girls camel toe.And he went mental because everyone saw,so now were about to get in a brawl in the street and lots of shouting was given and i was stoked as i told him i would f**k him with scissors and told his girlfriend to stay out of it s**t t*ts.Once again youtube Alf stuart! This fight didnt esculate into anything really and we went off to go home until........the scariest s**t ever went down!We were all talking near some zebra crossing and this bald little hench leather jacket wearing psycho barges past me so obviously im like 'what the f**k'!? and he turns around going mental and telling me hes gonna kill me.Then my boys step in,mainly Lee Martin and unfortunately for him this psycho slides on a knuckle duster and Me and Ben were gone!We were 100yards down the road and this dudes hit Lee with the duster on,only caught his arm though luckily and Diggers spoke to some people as if to help and they were obviously mr psychos friend and told him to start running then!Needless to say we went back to the campsite after this and slept for at least 3hours!haha.

Sunday:
Sunday i was dead and didnt even want to ride but everyone else did for some reason. My bike has been feeling crap all weekend to be honest and my wheel was rubbing on my brake so i took my brake off to ride the front again at weymouth.Barspins are somehow so much easier without a brake.mainly cus i tell myself im some kind of street god.haha.Got bars to ice on the sub so i might stay brakeless for a while.not sure yet.We had a chilled roll across to pavilions in weymouth in the sun so Dalley could get his street on and no one could really be bothered to ride so we got an ice cream, chilled and then went Bridport again as it was on the way home.I didnt ride much because of my dead body really kicking in and we left after about an hour but just before leaving Ben got what was coming to him.Now Ben does this joke of his he calls 'antigued' which is basically wen he puffs talc powder into peoples faces.Digger got one up on this and got Ben with a whole bag of flour. He was covered!aparently the war is on now.haha.O yeah Ben is also retarded. When asked the question 'what weighs more,a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers? Ben sat there for ages thinking about it and still decided a ton of bricks weighed more!I honestly was laughing so much i couldnt drive and thought we were gonna plough into another car on the side of the road.haha.

Matt Dalley double peg rail at the front,Weymouth

Lee Martin footjam wallride,Bridport

So that was the Dorset trip and it was a mad one, full of so many amazing mrmories!Ive probably missed loads out but the people who were there know what happened and im sure we will be talking about it for a long time yet!Big shout out to COMMIT BMX.Check it out!And check out the photos from the man himself from Commit,Lee Martin.
One last thing,I saw this post on facebook when i got home and it pretty much summed up the weekend in short compared to this and here it is:
Sunshine and thunderstorms, skateparks and street spots, camp sites and group bonds, rock pubs and jager bombs, skinheads with knuckle-dusters, and a few cuts and bruises...Commit Weekender: Dorchester was awesome :)

Cheers,
Dave Pepperell

EPOCH shoe review!!

BOOM!! Got my fresh kicks a few weeks ago now and when they arrived I decided that the first pair I picked out I would ride in. So the first pair I pick out are the EPOCH shoes and what an amazing shoe they are. The mid top with the velcro is a great combo for some really good ankle support and the sole on this shoe is amazing. Not only is it super grippy but it's also not too hard so you can still get a great feel for the pedals unlike some other branded shoes I have ridden in!!
Personally I really like good heel protection on a shoe and the EPOCH shoe has definitely delivered but they don't seem to have the same hard plastic insert like the BURRELL shoe we received in the last batch. I found this insert really helpful for those whips that just love trying to destroy your heels and ankles.
I really am so stoked on these ODESSA shoes. They not only have the looks, they are also durable, tough and well made... just what every rider needs!!

I'm gonna get riding in the DEL GARDA pair next, super excited to see what they are going to bring to the table!

feedback anyone?

KEEP SHREDDING!

Easter jam

So its took me forever but ive managed to actually sort this out and get a blog going.Anyways first blog is on the amazing easter just gone.I had such a good time and my boyees came n stayed with me for such a rad time.So everyone arrived saturday mornin first with the locals and the scott hamlin,ed williams, clive windell and jamie walsh and then had jimi o'shea and fellow odessa rider chris nunn arrive shortly after.we got off down to the prom mini ramp in penzance straight away for a session!i love that ramp so much!such a nice place 2 have a ramp and everyone was going off.Next stop was the bowl at Penzance. To have this place as a local is a total blessing!!everyone loved it and the session was sick!had a game of footdown in the bowl towards the end and as i was gettin out ben keegan decided to go full pelt into me popping my front tire and putting a hole in it(cheers ben)haha. We all arranged a big buffet all u can eat chineese meal for the eve which went down a treat.Tim Rudd had a 2nd birthday of the year and we learnt to pay for our food after doing a runner.well we learnt the next day!haha.Had a massive amount of drink saturday night and things got a bit loose at the club including, mosh pits to dance music, grenades, and harry hoare causing fights which turns into a massive brawl in the club and us all getting thrown out.was great!haha. So sunday comes along and its the mount hawke easter jam.I woke up still feeling drunk as ever and riding was not exactly what i was thinking about.being sick and sleeping was.haha.but i still managed to drag my ass to mount hawke and tried riding. The jam was quiet but still pretty fun.I couldnt ride at all well but gave it a go,tried a flair whip and landed on my head.pulled a g turn over the driveway for my boyee darren rowe though so i was stoked!was well stoked on chris nunn doing well in the comp.He obviously didnt drink enough the night before.ha.Loads of mad things went down,Nunny done a decade over the big hip, sketchy tom pulled a frontflip,ed williams came close 2 killing ben hanlan wen he threw his bike trying a double downwhip air but came so close!Oh and scott hamlin threw down everything imaginable on the jumpboxes.killed it!Although i rode and felt like crap i still had a good time and thats what im all about! Anyways during the jam Ben gets a phone call from his mum telling him the police have been on the phone and the chineese want their money or hes gonna have to pay a fine of 100quid!!no chance!Hamlin was on this and had the greatest idea ever.scott was gonna be a solicitor for the evening.we dressed scott up and banged out a centre parting and he looked the buisiness!Scott,ed and Ben went into the chineese whilst the rest of us stayed in the car listening in on loudspeaker until the battery died.Clive needed a shit so went in and made such a bad smell he had 2 ask for some air freshener!the video is a treat, maybe scott will upload it but in the mean time ill put a pic of the chineese receptionists reaction to asking for air freshener.we spent the whole of sunday nite watchin bmx videos and having some right laughs. Wooden waves was the plan for monday and that place has gone down hill. The best mini ramps used to be there but now almost every coping is loose and theres holes in most of the ramps.still made the most of it and rode the cut down vert ramp for a while.Stoked for ed getting flairs although he almost cried trying them.haha, and i was stoked on pulling a can flair which i havent done for a while. The weekend was drawn to a close by macdonalds filling us up a treat and scott laughing histerically at what i believe was nothing.lol.ive probably forgot things but all in all it was such a sick weekend and those boys r soo sound its unbelieveable!Scott will have his version of the weekend up on the bmx-shop.com blog soon so make sure you check that out aswell cus itll probs be better than this version.O yeah and one last thing, thanks to my girl for putting up with everyone for the weekend and making a killer breakfast for us all in the morning!

Another amazing weekend

This weekend i headed down to newquay for the Mount Hawke Easter jam and to chill in Penzance with odessa's crazy Dave and all the pz riders. Its always a treat and a trip i wouldn't miss for the world. Got down on sat afternoon and had a chilled ride with the boys at the prom mini ramp in pz then headed to the bowl jus up the road were we had the best game of foot down ever lol. Then was a crazy night on the town and up for the jam in the morning. A few of the lads got there early and built some cool little additions to the park. Over all Hawke is an amazing park and i love riding it. The hole day was a chilled event and i had a real good time. Hip surgery

Hey guys! Unfortunately I have some bad news. I went to a hip specialist this last Friday to try to figure out why I keep tearing my hip flexor muscle. The specialist immediately pointed out the pelvis/hip joint had not healed correctly from when I broke it about 2 years ago. The bone sticks down and hits on my femur which limits my range of motion which ultimately causes me to tear my hip flexor.

So the doctor says I need surgery to fix it. He also wants to remove a bunch of bone chips from my hip joint while he is in there. All the MRI’s and CT scans I had were from about a year to 2 years old so he wanted new ones to do mapping for surgery. So I had to get this MRI were they stick a huge need into my leg and hip joint and pump fluid into the joint so that they have a better image. The needle hurt so bad! Now that that’s over I am supposed to have surgery in about a month but maybe sooner. After that it’s a 3 month recovery. I will try to keep you updated and maybe some surgery pictures. Talk to you guys later!
